Cas' New Reef Tank -- from start to finish.
chris@casteele.com

On this page I intend to detail the building of my new 80g reef......I will put up pictures as they become available...and detail each step. The tank is 80g, will have soft corals, live rock, and a good assortment of fish and reef inhabitants. This is atleast a 1-2 month project to fully setup. But for now, I'm just gonna upload some shots of what I have done. When I get some time, I will put some time into this page, detail each step, calculate the costs, etc. These will be full sized shots.....so if you are not on a broadband connection....get one!

Setup Steps

Current Pics (very old now)

August 2002 Update;

-I added a Koralin Calcium Reactor last year...it has been great.

-VHO bulbs have been replaced 2 times since the tank was first setup 2 1/2 yrs.

-I am doing every other month water changes. Over all the tank has been stable, but I am considering breaking it down and giving all of the live rock a good scrubing to help control bubble algea.

-I have quite a few hard corals going now...even with only VHO lighting. Some day I'll get around to switching to Metal Halides(probably when I move and re-do a new/larger tank)

-The Maroon Clown that I have in the tank is big and mean.....he is going on 6 years old now. He likes to nip at my arm when I clean the tank.

-I need to add some new pictures....
